Citrine is a yellow variance of quartz that has been heat treated be the earth. Its color ranges from a pale yellow to yellow-brown. Its name derived from the French word citron, meaning lemon. This formation of quartz is found all over the world, most commonly in Brazil, Africa, and parts of east Asia. It is a common misconception that commercial citrine in not true citrine. Commercialized citrine is amethyst that has been exposed to heat by an oven. The chemical structure is 100% citrine as the heat alters the amethyst, converting it to citrine.

Mookaite is Jasper which comes from Mooka Creek in the Kennedy Ranges of Western Australia. It is a variety of Chalcedony, which is a microcrystalline variety of Quartz. In the traditional aboriginal language, the word mooka means ‘running waters’, and it also refers to the many springs that run into the Mooka area.
