Knightia sp. was a freshwater fish that lived in rivers and lakes of North America. They're related to herrings and sardines. It is the official state fossil of of Wyoming and is considered the most commonly excavated fossil in the world. These serve as a great beginner fossil to jump start any fossil collection!
